 Architecture - Administrative Assistant

Description:
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Administrative Assistant seeking a high-energy work environment where they can make an immediate impact. The chosen candidate will provide key support in a high growth area of an award winning architectural, engineering and consulting firm in Houston. They will support the sports and civil engineering division with daily tasks, particularly the President of the division. This demanding and fast paced position will require a personable candidate that is highly proficient in all administrative software, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, as well as have some ability in graphic design and AIA software. The candidate should have extremely strong inter-personal and organizational skills. The abilities to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities, multi-task, problem solve and adjust from a daily routine are all musts. Responsibilities of Job Includes:
  • Maintenance and development of project deliverables (i.e. construction observation reports, punch list, spec books, submittals)
  • Understanding and handling general business practices
  • Maintain filing systems to ensure proper and timely handling of correspondence, documents, materials and records
  • Support managing director's day-to-day activities (travel, calendar, timesheets, expense reports, phone calls)
  • Develop understanding and work with business contracts, specifically American Institute of Architects contracts
  • Utilize excellent business writing skills
  • Interface with accounting to request purchase orders and general office expenses
  • Update/maintain marketing materials and project photography
  • Assist with preparation and coordination for all major conferences the division attends
  • Perform other duties and functions as may be assigned by supervisor or manager

 



Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with demonstrated expertise in Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Some experience with AIA Software
  • Some experience in Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Strong organizational skills

 Architecture - Design Principal

Description:
This senior leadership position will require a highly talented professional with experience in design of educational, healthcare or large scale corporate facilities, drawing, sketching and preparation of design presentation drawings. The candidate must have the ability to create design concepts and continue the development through all design phases. The candidate will work well in a design team environment and will be responsible for mentoring and leading design teams. The Design Principal will be a member of the senior leadership team within PBK's Design department and will oversee design efforts for projects delivered out of all of PBK's 8 offices. The Director will oversee Interior Design for PBK. The Director will interface regularly with clients during the design process for educational, healthcare and large scale corporate facilities. The Director will be "hands-on" designing, drawing and sketching and will oversee the preparation of design presentation drawings. The Director must have the ability to create design concepts and continue the development through all design phases. The Director must work effectively as a staff mentor and have the ability to develop junior personnel. The Director will have extremely strong inter-personal skills, strong graphics skills, be an effective presenter of ideas and concepts, possess in-depth knowledge of interior finishes and trends and be passionate about client service.  Construction Field Technician

Description:
PBK is looking to add a Construction Field Technician to our project team. As a CFT, you will observe the general quality of the contractor’s performance, including concrete pours, quality of masonry work, installation of finishes, flooring, ceilings, etc. Under the direction of the Construction Service Manager, you will ensure that testing, sampling and inspection is performed in accordance with project specifications. All observations will be documented and transmitted to our Construction Manager and Project Managers for review. The technician will maintain logs and observation reports of the on-going activities on the construction sites.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2 years of prior experience with a testing lab or general contractor is required
  • A high school diploma is required. Post high school education/training is preferred
  • The Technician must have good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • ACI Level I Concrete or ICC certifications in the disciplines of Reinforced Concrete and Masonry are a plus
  • The technician must have the ability to work successfully in team environment
  • A positive “can-do" attitude is essential
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required
  • You must pass a background check
  • You must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

 Construction Services Manager

Description:
PBK is in search of a Construction Manager with at least 5 years of construction experience and ability to read and interpret construction documents. In addition to ensuring projects stay on schedule and the contractors on task, this position will serve as a liaison between the client and contractors. This individual will serve as an on-site representative of a large A/E firm to represent owner's interests in projects and contractors adherence to quality standards and schedules. This individual will also interact with contractors and owners representatives on a daily basis.

 Director of Quality Control

Description:
The Director of Quality Control will serve an essential role within PBK. The Director is responsible for the establishment of a formal Quality Control Department, including further developing existing quality control processes and checklists.

An overview of responsibilities include:
  • Refine and implement QA/QC procedures during all document phases
  • Assist in the development of junior staff members through architectural training
  • Coordinate QA/QC efforts with the Specifications Department, Construction Services and PBK's Engineering/Consulting Divisions.
  • Build a team of QA/QC "leads" among the project teams and offices to ensure thorough and accurate reviews for every project
  • Administer PBK standards across all offices


Requirements:
  • Must be a licensed Architect
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience
  • Must have experience developing a QA/QC program or experience serving in an integral role in a QA/QC program
  • Must have experience training and mentoring staff
  • Must possess a complete understanding of the building codes
  • Personal skills to effectively communicate and provide productive evaluations of performance
