Clear Creek ISD
Educational Village
Overview:
The Educational Village will consist of a new elementary school (105,000-square feet), a new intermediate school (176,550-square feet) and new high school (460,000-square feet) - all on the same site. "The Village" is designed around a shared Commons Building (cafeteria) and exterior courtyards. The Commons Building utilizes one main serving kitchen with three separate cafeteria spaces which can be opened to allow one large meeting area. The internal courtyards are configured to allow shared access to all exterior spaces while maintaining a safe and secure environment (with controlled access as needed). Spaces such as the high school auditorium, gymnasium and library can have controlled access from the courtyards and be utilized by other grade levels for special functions.
Smaller Learning Communities
Personalized learning is the primary objective behind the design of the new high school. The high school is designed with small learning communities within the larger 2,500 student community in a similar relationship and configuration as the recently completed Clear Springs High School.
The small learning communities include an assistant principal/counselor suite, conference facilities, student learning spaces, science labs and associated preparation areas. These spaces have different shapes and sizes, and are designed to allow for teams of two or more students to interact, meet, work on computers, plan events, and a host of other activities, much like spaces found on college campuses. Each small learning community has a main entry or "porch" off the main hallway allowing for the opportunity to display the students teams' colors or symbols.
